Like most hotel loyalty programs, World of Hyatt offers extra benefits to members who can reach different tiers of its elite status.

Elite tier members can enjoy all sorts of competitive perks, including club lounge access, suite upgrades, late checkout and much more. Qualifying for elite status is pretty straightforward and achievable for most World of Hyatt members. In fact, all World of Hyatt Credit Card holders are automatically granted Discoverist status as well as five qualifying night credits each year toward achieving next tier status.

Other than owning a World of Hyatt credit card, there are several ways to gain elite status.

Is Hyatt elite status worth it?

If you frequently stay at Hyatt brand hotels, it is easy to see the value in perks like free Wi-Fi, room upgrades and late checkout. But in addition to the standard benefits, Hyatt offers extra ways for members to be rewarded. Here’s a summary of the most valuable elite tier benefits, as well as some of the extra awards:

  • Room upgrades – All World of Hyatt elite status members can take advantage of room upgrades upon availability when they check into a Hyatt hotel. As you advance through Discoverist, Explorist and Globalist tiers, you unlock different types of room upgrades – from preferred rooms to standard suites.
  • Club lounge access – For members with Explorist status or higher, Hyatt offers Club lounge access at participating properties. The access includes continental breakfast in the morning and hors d’oeuvres in the evening.
  • M life Rewards elite status – In addition to your elite status with World of Hyatt, members are also granted elite status with M life Rewards. This includes similar benefits, such as free parking and room upgrades at MGM resorts. It also gets you perks like VIP line access to select nightclubs in Las Vegas if you are Gold status or higher.
  • Free Wi-Fi – This might not seem like the most valuable benefit, but the savings can add up significantly on longer stays. All elite status members get free premium Wi-Fi, rather than standard.
  • Extra free night at Category 1-4 destination – One of the additional perks Hyatt offers is a free night award for a Category 1-4 Hyatt, SLH or M life Rewards destination if you stay at five different Hyatt brands and pay an eligible rate. You can also earn this award by staying 30 qualifying nights or earning 50,000 base points in a calendar year – the same requirements for achieving Explorist status.
  • Extra free night at Category 1-7 destination – If you stay 60 qualifying nights or earn 100,000 base points in a calendar year (the same requirements as for Globalist status), you earn a free night in a Category 1-7 Hyatt hotel, resort or SLH hotel. You also get four suite upgrade awards. While this isn’t technically a Globalist perk, anyone who meets Globalist status requirements can enjoy a valuable extra reward.
