Credit Card Glossary: Terms and Definitions
A “sled” is a set of torsion springs that guide and press an EMV chip card into the contact reader of a payment terminal. If those springs are worn or damaged, or if the terminal has been dropped and the springs are not working right, that might cause a chip card to slide off the card reader.
