Credit Card Glossary: Terms and Definitions
Gas credit card
Gas credit cards are one of the most venerable types of credit cards, dating back to at least the 1930s. Gas credit cards traditionally were tied to a single chain of gas stations and offer discounts to drivers who use them in the form of cents off per gallon. More recently, gas credit cards have been challenged by general purpose credit cards that offer percentage discounts on gasoline. Compare gas credit cards.
