There’s not much to recommend with this humdrum business credit card. The Regions Visa Business Enhanced credit card offers fewer cardholder benefits than most of its competitors, an unexceptional interest rate and forgettable rewards.

The card’s uninspired rewards program and bare-bones benefits place it low on our list of business cards. However, this card does offer a six-month introductory APR on purchases. So if you need some time to pay off a big purchase, the Regions Visa can help you temporarily avoid interest. The regional bank rewards card also offers overdraft protection for Region bank account owners, which can make it an appealing option for Regions bank customers who want to avoid unnecessary fees.

Just be sure you live near a Regions Bank before you apply. Only cardholders living in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia are eligible.

So-so APR

The minimum interest rate on the Regions Visa Business Enhanced card is fairly low for a business card, making it a decent choice for cardholders with excellent credit. Cardholders with the best credit scores are charged just 13.24 percent to carry a balance. Meanwhile, cardholders with higher scores are charged a maximum rate of 21.24 percent. Despite these relatively low interest rates, the Regions Visa Business Enhanced card still falls short of many of its competitors – particularly for cardholders with excellent credit. Many business cards that offer comparatively low rewards make up for it with more competitive interest rates.

Minimal rewards

You won’t earn many rewards with this card. The Regions Visa Business Enhanced card gives cardholders just one point for every dollar spent on general purchases and doesn’t offer a sign-up bonus or any other type of rewards promotion. Regions’ relationship rewards points are also disappointing. The points are only worth about a penny each, so it can take some time to earn enough rewards to redeem anything of value. Merchandise starts at 1,600 points, while travel starts at 25,000. According to our estimates, you’ll take home just $480 a year if you spend roughly $4,000 a month, which is below average for a business rewards card.

Almost no perks

The biggest disappointment with the Regions Visa Business Enhanced card is its surprising lack of benefits. Credit card benefits that have become standard on credit cards, such as travel assistance and car rental insurance, are conspicuously absent on this business card. The Regions Visa Business Enhanced card doesn’t offer any business-specific benefits either, putting it at a big disadvantage when you compare it to some of its more generous competitors. The Regions card does offer a unique automatic discount program, though, which can save cardholders money if they shop at participating stores.

Limited promotion

The Regions Visa Business Enhanced card also offers a six-month interest-free promotion on purchases. So if you need some time to pay off a larger purchase, this card can be a useful tool. The introductory APR is fairly standard for a business card, though, so you won’t have trouble finding another card with a similar promotion.

The most compelling reason to choose a Regions Visa Business Enhanced card is to use its overdraft protection feature to avoid paying hefty fees. Otherwise, you can likely find a better card by expanding your search to other options.

Why get the Regions Visa Business Enhanced card?

  • You’re already a Regions Bank customer or plan to become one and want a card with the same bank.
  • You’re looking for a relatively low-rate credit card and some rewards.
  • You prefer points instead of cash back.
  • You plan to make a large purchase and need at least six months to pay it back

How to use the Regions Visa Business Enhanced card:

  • Link your card to your Regions Bank checking account to avoid paying an overdraft fee when you accidentally overspend.
  • Be careful about how much you charge during the card’s promotional period. Six months isn’t a long time to pay back a hefty balance.
  • To qualify for automatic savings, look up which businesses are affiliated with the Visa SavingsEdge program and use your card whenever you visit.
