Discover has announced it is ending the Discover Deals program Oct. 31, 2018. Discover card members received the announcement by email on Oct. 1, as reported by Doctor of Credit. Cardholders will continue to earn discounts on qualifying purchases through the Discover Deals program until 11:59 p.m. ET Oct. 31, after which time Discover Deals will no longer be available.

“Our focus moving forward will be to provide simpler and more meaningful ways for our card members to earn rewards, as we recently did by enhancing our 5 percent cash back program,” said Derek Cuculich, senior manager of public relations for Discover. “Discover card members will continue to receive targeted promotions and offers from top merchants and retailers.”

This isn’t the only change Discover is making to its rewards and benefits offering. In February 2018, Discover cut the following benefits: purchase protection, return guarantee, extended product warranty, auto rental insurance and flight accident coverage.

Additionally, in August Discover announced it will no longer offer price protection as of Oct. 31, 2018.

Discover Deals is a card-linked offer program that offers additional cash back savings on top of any cash back rewards earned by Discover cards. The Discover Deals mall currently offers discounts between 5 and 20 percent cash back on purchases from a select list of retailers.

Other issuers that have similar card-linked offers include American Express through Amex Offers and Bank of America through BankAmeriDeals.
