2. Fly with a oneworld alliance airline
The easiest way to earn British Airways Avios is to take a qualifying flight – either with British Airways or any oneworld alliance partner. Each time you fly, you’ll earn a minimum of 125 Avios.
Earning Avios on a flight is a bit complicated. Rewards are calculated by distance and fare class. Here’s a quick look at what you can earn on a British Airways flight.
|Fare class||Avios earned||Minimum Avios earned|
|Economy (G, O or Q)||25% of miles flown||125|
|Economy (K, L, M, N, S or V)||50% of miles flown||250|
|Economy flexible (Y, B or H)||100% of miles flown||500|
|Premium economy (E or T)||100% of miles flown||500|
|Premium economy flexible (W)||150% of miles flown||750|
|Business class (R or I)||150% of miles flown||750|
|Business class flexible (J, C or D)||250% of miles flown||1,250|
|First class (A)||250% of miles flown||1,250|
|First class flexible (F)||300% of miles flown||1,500|
Since Avios are awarded based on distance, you can rack them up quickly on international flights. Plus, you can earn Avios on flights taken with any oneworld alliance partner, at varying rates. Just check the British Airways website before you fly to see how Avios are awarded for each partner airline.
3. Stay with a partner hotel
In addition to earning Avios on flights, Executive Club members can rack up rewards on hotel stays with one of British Airways many hotel partners. You’ll earn 1 Avios per dollar on stays booked with the following brands:
- Best Western® Hotels & Resorts
- Hyatt Hotels and Resorts
- InterContinental Hotels Group
- Langham Hospitality Group
- Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group
- Marriott International®
- Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts
There are a few different ways to book a hotel stay that earns Avios – including the British Airways hotel booking platform. It includes more than 7,500 properties in destinations across Europe. Alternatively, you can book with a partner hotel or booking site by entering your British Airways Executive Club credentials when you check out or visiting through a special link. To ensure you earn Avios from your booking, be sure to check out each partner’s terms and conditions and individual booking instructions.
4. Book a car rental with a partner
British Airways has partnerships with three different car rental companies, so Executive Club members can earn Avios through qualifying rentals. Each partner has a slightly different earning scheme, detailed below.

|Budget||2 Avios per pound (250 minimum earned per rental)||None|
|Maggiore||2 Avios per euro (500 minimum earned per rental)||None|
5. Book a vacation package
If you are the kind of traveler who prefers to book your flight and hotel stay all together, British Airways offers a holiday finder with plenty of vacation package options. There are several kinds of trips available, including fly-drive, multi-city and villa vacations. Any package you book through the platform also earns 1 Avios per dollar.
6. Buy a Heathrow Express ticket
If you’ve every traveled to London, you might have taken the Heathrow Express to quickly get to the middle of the city from the airport. For Executive Club members who book their ticket in advance (rather than on the train or at the airport), British Airways offers a generous 10 Avios per dollar.
7. Park with ParkCloud
ParkCloud is a network of airport and hotel parking lots across the U.K. If you book through the British Airways link, you can earn anywhere from 3 to 5 Avios per pound on your parking.

10. Purchase Avios
While it is not the best option for most Executive Club members, British Airways does allow the purchase of Avios. Just keep in mind that you might end up paying more than they are worth – depending on the flight deal you find.
