Chase continues to build out its list of hotel and airline transfer partners, with Emirates Skywards as the most recent addition.
Emirates Skywards is the loyalty program of Emirates and flydubai airlines, servicing more than 150 destinations worldwide. The newly announced partnership with Chase is sure to prove beneficial for eligible Chase cardholders, as it opens the door to dozens of destinations in 85 different countries.
Emirates Skywards brings the list of Chase hotel and airline transfer partners up to 13 loyalty programs.
How to transfer Ultimate Rewards to Skywards miles
If you are eager to take advantage of the newest Chase travel partner, you can transfer your Ultimate Rewards points to Skywards miles at a 1:1 rate through the Ultimate Rewards portal. Transfers must be made in increments of 1,000 – but you can enjoy instant use of your Skywards miles after transfer.
In order to be eligible to transfer your Ultimate Rewards points, you must be a premium Ultimate Rewards cardholder. This means you must carry the Chase Sapphire Reserve®, Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card. All other cardholders won’t be able to take advantage of the benefit.
Should you transfer your Ultimate Rewards points to Skywards miles?
If you are a frequent flyer of Emirates or flydubai, the new Chase partnership can be extremely valuable. If you find yourself just a few miles short of an award flight, you can simply transfer over your Ultimate Rewards points to meet the threshold.
For other cardholders, however, Emirates Skywards is not the most valuable use of your points. We estimate the average value of a Skywards mile at 1.1 cents. On the flip side, we estimate the average value of an Ultimate Rewards point at 1.26 cents.

The higher value of Ultimate Rewards is due to several factors, including the high estimated value of some of the other travel partners’ miles. But more importantly, all Chase cardholders who have the option to transfer their Ultimate Rewards points can get a higher point value when they redeem for travel through the Ultimate Rewards portal.
|Card||Point value (when redeemed for travel through Ultimate Rewards)|
|Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card||1.25 cents|
|Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card||1.25 cents|
|Chase Sapphire Reserve®||1.5 cents|
As you can see from the table above, you can stretch your Ultimate Rewards points further by booking your flight through Ultimate Rewards than if you transfer.
A valuable addition to Chase’s transfer partner list
Though Skywards miles seem to offer less potential value than Ultimate Rewards points at first glance, the addition of Emirates Skywards to the suite of Chase transfer partners can still prove incredibly valuable. Eligible cardholders can now use their points to top up their Skywards mile balance or take advantage of a great deal within the program.
Plus, the more travel partners offered by Chase, the more flexible your Ultimate Rewards points become. Chase Sapphire Preferred and Reserve and Ink Business Preferred cardholders can now enjoy more redemption options than ever before.
