Best limited-time offers before Black Friday

Plenty of airline and hotel rewards programs are getting the holiday season started early this year – offering promotions encouraging shopping before the rush of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. In fact, a slew of airline shopping portals are boasting limited-time bonuses over the next few weeks. Check out current offers below.

Save on select Ultimate Rewards gift card redemptions

Throughout November, qualifying Chase Ultimate Rewards cardholders can receive a 10 percent discount on select gift card redemptions in the Ultimate Rewards portal. Participating retailers include Barnes & Noble, DSW, J. Crew, Uber and more. Note that some discounts are only available to select cardholders, and quantities may be limited.

Best limited-time offers for Black Friday

Black Friday is well-known for its incredible deals on purchases at brick-and-mortar retailers, but that is far from all the holiday has to offer. Select credit card, hotel and airline rewards programs also take advantage of the season to offer you ways to save money on your purchases – or earn some extra rewards. Here’s a quick look at some current available offers.

Save on select hotel bookings when you pay with your Ultimate Rewards card

From Nov. 29 through Dec. 2, 2019, qualifying Chase Ultimate Rewards cardholders will have access to special rates from select hotel partners in the Ultimate Rewards travel portal. When you book a stay during the promotion period, you can save big on your next trip. Be sure to check individual hotel offers for eligible travel dates and other exclusions.

Enroll your Hilton Honors American Express card to earn an extra 5 points per dollar

Select Hilton Honors American Express cardholders can enroll their eligible card here to earn an extra 5 points per dollar on up to $1,000 in purchases through Dec. 4, 2019. Not all cardholders are eligible, so check for a target offer at the link provided.

Best limited-time offers for Cyber Monday

If you are eager to score steep discounts on your online purchases this Cyber Monday, you might be able to rack up some great rewards along the way. Loyalty program shopping portals, in particular, are rich with opportunities to earn points or miles with the online merchants you already shop at. Here’s a quick look at some of the promotions available now.

Save up to 20 percent on select Amazon Launchpad purchases through the Discover Store on Amazon

Eligible Discover cardholders can save up to 20 percent on select items when they shop through the Discover Store on Amazon. Plus, Discover it® Cash Back cardholders can earn 5 percent cash back on up to $1,500 in purchases at (combined with purchases Target and when they enroll in rotating bonus categories through Dec. 31, 2019.

Earn 4 extra Membership Rewards points per dollar at

American Express cardholders who are targeted for this Amex Offer can earn an additional 4 points per dollar on their purchases at The offer caps out at 1,500 rewards points and expires Dec. 31, 2019. To qualify, check your Amex Offers for the deal and add it to your eligible Membership Rewards card.

Which credit card should you use for these promotions?

That depends on what kind of rewards you are hoping to earn this holiday season. If you want to bulk up your travel budget for next year, consider a credit card that earns hotel or airline points and miles – like the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Priority Credit Card. If you stack rewards earned on spending with promotions in airline shopping portals – you can rack up even more points or miles.

For those who prefer more flexible points or cash back, there are plenty of other rewards credit cards that go great with these kinds of deals. For shopping portal promotions, consider using a credit card that earns rewards on online purchases, like the Bank of America® Cash Rewards credit card. That way, you’ll earn extra points or cash back on all your online shopping.

The Chase Freedom®, for example, is currently offering 5 percent cash back in up to $1,500 in combined purchases at department stores and those using PayPal or Chase Pay after enrollment.
