The new platform builds on existing Amex partnerships, as well as their acquisition of the Resy reservation platform earlier this year year. Once the new feature launches, Platinum cardholders will be able to book restaurants across the American Express Global Dining Collection, Resy, BookATable and SevenRooms portfolios.
This feature will roll out early 2020, fulling integrated into the American Express app. Once it launches, qualifying cardholders can book restaurant reservations from a new “Access Top Restaurants” tab in the app.
For now, select Amex Platinum cardholders have early access to try out the reservation feature. Check the membership tab in your American Express mobile app for eligibility.

Focus on dining echoed across rewards card programs
American Express has already demonstrated a dedication to offering its cardholders unique dining experiences, with both the acquisition of Resy and exclusive promotions for its cardholders since. But while this feature is sure to be convenient for Amex Platinum cardholders, it is not the only competitor.
Recently, Capital One also announced a partnership offering exclusive reservations for cardholders – with the popular platform OpenTable. All Capital One cardholders can now book the most sought after reservation slots at popular restaurants across the country.

It’s clear from such announcements that now is a great time for foodies in the rewards card space. Beyond high rewards rates on dining or grocery purchases, more and more cards now offer unique dining experiences designed to round out your credit card offerings.
