You’ve decided to apply for a rewards credit card.  But with all the reward options available, what type of rewards credit card should you choose? You would like to get cash back, but earning points has an appeal as well.  Lucky for you, the new Chase Freedom credit card lets you enjoy both options by making it easy to switch back and forth between earning cash back and points, without losing either one as you alternate.

Compare Cash Back Credit CardsWith the Chase Freedom credit card, you’ll start out earning cash back — with the option to move back and forth between cash and points once you are a cardholder.

The Chase Freedom card lets you earn 3 percent cash back for every dollar you spend on eligible transactions at gas stations, grocery stores, and quick service restaurants (such as pizza, hamburgers, tacos, sandwich shops, coffee houses, and more) with a 1 percent cash back offering for purchases made everywhere else.  Once you accumulate $50 in rewards, you can redeem for your $50 check.  Take time to build up a pool of rewards and watch your earnings grow, with $200 in rewards letting you redeem for $250 cash back.

When you decide to use your Chase Freedom card to earn points, you will get three points for every dollar in eligible transactions made at gas stations, grocery stores, and quick service restaurants, with one point earned for each dollar in purchases made everywhere else.  Your points can be redeemed for a variety of rewards, including gift certificates, hotel stays, car rentals, flights on most airlines with no blackout dates and merchandise.  Rewards can be earned with as little as 1,000 points.

Redemption is easy — either go online or call the number on the back of your Chase Freedom credit card.

While you are earning cash back or reward points, the Chase Freedom credit card also offers other great features.  The Chase Freedom card is equipped with “blink” technology, a new feature that makes it quicker and easier to make payments at select merchants.  Blink allows you to pay by simply holding your card up to the point-of-sale reader, so there is no need to swipe your Chase Freedom credit card or hand it to the cashier.  Note that certain transactions may require a signature.

Additionally, customized account features include the ability to select your own billing date and payment options.  Separately, the Chase Freedom card allows for easy balance transfer options with a call to the toll-free number of the back of your card.  Free additional Chase Freedom cards mean there is no cost to add family members to your account.
