For credit card users who attend concerts, dine out or love going to the movies – it’s worth that swipe to use a card that rewards you for spending discretionary dollars on entertainment.

Some cards offer presale access, others build points or cash back and others offer perks like exclusive entertainment experiences. Here are few of our top choices for earning on your entertainment:

Best for exclusive cardholder benefits: Chase Sapphire Reserve®

The Chase Sapphire Reserve is a credit card stacked with premium entertainment benefits, including 3 points per dollar on travel (after earning $300 travel credit) and dining worldwide with no foreign transaction fees and exclusive cardmember entertainment packages through Ultimate Rewards. Whether you find entertainment around the corner at your local Italian bistro or across the world hiking South America, there are ways to accelerate earnings to make points add up fast.

Additionally, through Ultimate Rewards, Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholders can redeem points for a wide variety of experiences and entertainment opportunities.

For example, cardholders have access to exclusive packages at the Sundance Film Festival which includes special film screenings, access to cast parties and private cardholder events. There are also amazing opportunities for music lovers, including the Chase Sound Check series with tickets to intimate concerts or packages for music festivals such as Outside Lands. For sports fans, Ultimate Rewards offers tickets for a range of sporting events, like the PGA Championship, and some even include the chance to go on the court or field. Foodies can purchase a variety of dining opportunities through the Chase Sapphire Private Dining Series, where they have the chance to eat at world-famous restaurants such as Per Se, Alinea and the TAO Los Angeles.

New this year, Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholders also receive 10 points per dollar on all Lyft rides through March 2022, along with a complimentary Lyft Pink membership, so you can continue to earn Ultimate Rewards points just by getting to and from your next experience. Additionally, the recently launched partnership with DoorDash provides Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholders with complimentary DashPass for at least one year along with up to $120 in statement credits for DoorDash orders ($60 in 2020 and $60 in 2021), giving you the ability to enjoy the caliber of food from dining out in the comfort of your own home.

Best for earning rewards on entertainment spending: Citi Premier℠ Card

The Citi Premier Card offers 2 points per dollar on restaurants and entertainment spending. Citibank includes the following in its entertainment parameters, among other purchases:

  • Amusement parks
  • Aquariums, carnivals, circuses and zoos
  • Concerts
  • Art galleries and museums

Plus, you can get 3 points per dollar on travel and gas purchases – a plus if you’re traveling to get to your entertainment venue.

In addition, the Citi Premier offers access to Citi Entertainment, which allows cardholders to purchase tickets to thousands of events annually, including presale tickets and exclusive experiences for the year’s most anticipated concerts, sporting events, dining experiences and more.

Best for premier ticket purchasers: Capital One® Savor® Cash Rewards Credit Card

For cardholders who crave memorable experiences, like sporting events and concerts, the Savor Card from Capital One card is packed with perks. Capital One and Vivid Seats – the largest independent marketplace for tickets to live sports, concert and theater events – have teamed up to give Savor cardholders some of the most rewarding seats in the house. The Savor card is currently offering 8% cash back on all Vivid Seats purchases, through May 2020.

Outside of the partnership with Vivid Seats, Savor cardholders earn unlimited 4% cash back on dining and entertainment purchases. This is one of the highest rates available on the market for purchases in both categories.

The sign-up bonus for Capital One Savor is also enticing: $300 if you spend $3,000 in the first three months. This is one of the highest cash-back bonuses out there for a cash back card and great perk for new cardholders.

Bottom line

All of these cards offer great perks for those who enjoy entertainment experiences. The Chase Sapphire Reserve shines in benefits and experiences for cardholders, while the Citi Premier Card rewards cardholders with points when using the card for entertainment. For the discerning consumer who doesn’t mind paying for preferred tickets, the Capital One Savor card’s partnership with Vivid Seats offers amazing an 8% cash back on these purchases, plus 4 percent cash back on all other dining and entertainment purchases. No matter which kind of entertainment spender you are, there is a rewarding card to choose from.
