Fee Roundup Survey Interview with KGO Radio San Francisco
CreditCards.com Senior Industry Analyst Matt Schulz spoke on Thursday, July 16, 2015, with Jason Middleton of KGO Radio San Francisco about the July 2015 Fee Roundup survey. The interview and transcript are below.
Jason Middleton: A survey out this morning highlights just how different credit card fees can be. Some cards have a dozen fees, one card has zero fees. Now two First Premier Bank credit cards, which each charge a whopping 12 fees, are the worst offenders in CreditCards.com’s study of the cards with the most and fewest fees. The PenFed Promise Visa card doesn’t charge any. It’s the only one of the 100 major credit cards to hold that distinct. The average credit card charges six different fees.
Matt Schulz: You can certainly try to negotiate some of these fees. The late payment fee is the one that you’ll probably have the most success with, but it never hurts to give the bank a call and ask them to negotiate these fees.
Middleton: That’s Matt Schulz, Chief Analyst at CreditCards.com. Their study is pretty broad and deep so I put a link up on KGORadio.com/newslinks in case you were looking for a new credit card.
