EMV Credit Cards Interview with CBS News Radio

CreditCards.com Senior Industry Analyst Matt Schulz spoke on Thursday, October 1, 2015 with Peter King of CBS News Radio about the September 2015 EMV Credit Cards survey. The interview and transcript are below.


Peter King: More than 6 in ten credit cardholders are still waiting for the chip cards, but retailers are much further behind when it comes to the card readers.

Matt Schulz: It’s going to take a year or more, probably.

King: CreditCards.com Senior Analyst Matt Schulz says more will have them by the end of the year, but –

Schulz: We’re seeing estimates of 10 to maybe 20% of retailers have upgraded their terminals to this point.

King: Schulz says it could be a year or longer before it’s close to 100%. He says most consumers should have their cards by year’s end. Why the delay? Schulz says it’s the expense and a lot of other moving parts. Peter King CBS News.
