What is the Wells Fargo Propel American Express card worth in the first year?
In addition to the 30,000 point sign-up bonus – worth around $300 – the Wells Fargo Propel card offers bonus categories including dining, travel, gas stations and more. If you spend most of your money in these places, you can get significant value out of your rewards in the first year.

30,000 points if you spend $3,000 in first 3 months
Why use it? The Wells Fargo Propel card offers some of the best rewards you can get out of a no-annual fee card.

Unlike many rewards cards with bonus categories, the Wells Fargo Propel doesn’t place a spending cap on the purchases that earn you more points. That means you can weigh your spending more heavily toward these charges to get even more rewards.
Recent changes to the Wells Fargo Propel card
Other than the sign-up bonus increase earlier this year, the introductory offer for the Wells Fargo Propel card hasn’t been known to change very often.

Who is eligible to earn the Wells Fargo Propel sign-up bonus?
Wells Fargo is pretty strict about who can earn its introductory bonus. If you’ve opened another Wells Fargo card in the last 15 months and received its sign-up bonus, you might not be eligible for this offer, even if that account is closed.
You’ll also have to meet the card’s initial application qualifications. The Wells Fargo Propel card requires that applicants have good to excellent credit (above 670). The bank also limits the number of cards you can open, so you might not be approved if you’ve opened a different Wells Fargo credit card in the last six months.
Redemption options for the Wells Fargo Propel card
Once you’ve earned your bonus points, you have a few different redemption options. If you want to use your points to book travel (at a value of 1 cent per point), you’ll need to book your trip through the Go Far Rewards center.
The best way to get travel value out of your Wells Fargo Propel points is to pair the card with the Wells Fargo Visa Signature Card. With the Visa Signature, you get a 50 percent boost when you redeem your points for travel through Go Far Rewards. Since Wells Fargo allows you to transfer your rewards points between cards, you can increase your value to 1.5 cents per point.
The Wells Fargo Propel card also has a few cash redemption options. You can apply your points as a statement credit, to your Wells Fargo checking or savings account or as a paper check. When you choose this option, you are limited to $25/2,500 point increments. If you have a Wells Fargo debit or ATM card, you can also redeem your points for cash from a Wells Fargo ATM, but only in $20/2,000 point increments.
If you are hoping to get a bit more value out of your rewards points, the Go Far Rewards center often offers limited time deals on merchandise or gift cards. Right now for example, you can get 10 percent off of all gift card purchases.
Should you apply for the Wells Fargo Propel card now?
The new 30,000 bonus point introductory offer after spending $3,000 in the first 3 months is not specified as being available for a limited time, so you have some wiggle room for applying for this card. But with spring and summer upon us, bonus points on travel, dining and gas can help you earn more in rewards on the purchases you are already making.
