Rich in points, short on cash? We’ll show you how to plan the perfect Valentine’s Day with your credit card rewards.

Tip 1 – Head out in style

Treat your date to a driver for the day. Link your Visa card with the Uber app and opt-in for receiving Uber credits every time you shop at participating businesses. Or, if you have an American Express Platinum card, you get $15 in Uber credit every month, which you’ll lose if you don’t use.

Tip 2 – Experience something new

Many issuers allow you to use your points for concerts and activities. From an unforgettable concert, costing 50,000 points, to a wine tour for less than 5,000, you’ve got plenty of options for a romantic experience.

Tip 3 – Dine on points

It’s now time for dinner and while it may not deliver the best value for your points, many hotels will allow you to use your rewards in their restaurants – just call ahead of time to make sure. You can also head to your credit card portal to buy a gift card to a romantic restaurant of your choice.

Tip 4 – Save the best for last – the perfect present

If you’re ready to hit it out of the ballpark this year, end your evening with a thoughtful gift. If you have a Citi or American Express card, link it with Amazon and use your points as cash as you pick out the perfect present. And if you shop using the Chase Ultimate Rewards points portal this month, you can get five times the points for shopping at Saks Fifth Avenue, where they have an extensive collection of gold bands – and diamond rings.

Earning points is pretty sweet but spending them on someone you love is even sweeter.
