Video: How your points can pay for experiences
Award-winning videographer, editor, and commercial producer.
On your next trip, do as I did and make the hills come alive with the sound of free excursions – courtesy of your credit card.
On my recent trip to Europe, I not only booked my flight and hotels with my credit card rewards points, but also many memorable adventures like the Sound of Music tour in Salzburg. In Rome, I used my points to book a guided tour of the Vatican and a small-group walking tour of the Colosseum. In Florence, I breezed past the crowds with a skip-the-line voucher to see Michelangelo’s famous David sculpture.
To book my excursions with points, I logged onto the Chase portal to see what I could get with the points I still had on my Chase Sapphire Reserve card.
To do this, enter the dates you'll be visiting a specific city under the “activities” section. A list of excursions will pop up and you'll see your points will retain their value even when booking something other than flights.
By strategizing how to best use my rewards on my multiple credit cards, I not only got most my of hotels and flights for free, but I also scored $300 worth of excursions. It’an experience I’ll definitely be adding to the list of my favorite things.
