What’s the best thing about having a credit card?

WOMAN 1: For me it would probably be two things: Convenience and the ability to purchase things online.

MAN 1: You don’t always have to have cash on you.

WOMAN 2: You don’t have to count change, and you can carry it in your back pocket.

WOMAN 3: It’s a lot more convenient to pay your bills.

WOMAN 4: Well it’s always there to like, rely on and I guess to use as a backup fund.

Do you use your card to shop online?

MAN 2: Yes, I use it online quite a bit. Um…Itunes…uh, Amazon.

WOMAN 2: The whole reason why I bought a computer is so I can shop online [laughs].

MAN 3: I prefer to buy things online just because you can compare, contrast so many different things so quickly.

WOMAN 4: I used to be so bad at shopping online that I knew my whole credit card number by heart. It hasn’t been that bad in a while [laughs].

What is a credit card emergency?

WOMAN 5: If I need gas for my car, or…if I’m studying really late at the library, and I don’t want to go home and cook something, then…I’ll just have to eat at a restaurant.

MAN 4: Transportation, and lodging, especially, ‘cause I’m traveling all the time. Say I get stranded, ‘cause it’s happened several times, with our airport system. Get stuck in a hotel or without a car and I need something, so, a credit card helps out.

What’s the best purchase you’ve made with a credit card?

WOMAN 3: I bought a ticket for, um, Cirque de Soleil. I probably wouldn’t have bought it if I didn’t have a card, um, so, yeah, that’s probably the best thing, because it was a really great show, so, I’m glad I did use it.
