Capital One just announced a little something extra for Capital One® Savor® Cash Rewards Credit Card holders – free unlimited membership with Postmates from now until December 2019 if you sign up with your card. For all of next year, cardholders can receive a monthly statement credit for a Postmates Unlimited monthly membership, usually $9.99 per month.

With this new perk, the Savor card just got even better for foodies. If you’re a fan of grocery or takeout delivery, you can save quite a bit on delivery fees in the next year.

What is Postmates Unlimited?

Postmates is a delivery service for groceries, alcohol, takeout or anything else you can think of. They partner with more than 25,000 merchants and can deliver anything, anywhere – even if it’s not a partner restaurant. They are one of the biggest takeout delivery services, operating in hundreds of cities across the country.

Postmates Unlimited is a subscription service that waives delivery fees for its members on all orders above $15. Members also don’t have to pay blitz pricing (surged delivery fees during high-demand periods) or minimum basket fees (additional charges on orders under a certain threshold). If you order take out or groceries more than a few times a month, this savings can add up quickly.

What is the Savor card Postmates Unlimited membership worth?

For a monthly subscription, Postmates Unlimited usually costs members $9.99 a month. So if you take advantage of the Savor offer for all of 2019, you’re already getting around $120 of value out of the new benefit. But the membership itself can also save takeout lovers quite a bit every month.

The average delivery fee for a Postmates order ranges from $3.99 to $5.99, but can be as high as $9.99 for non-partner merchants. If you were paying the monthly subscription fee, you’d only have to order three times a month to make up for the cost and still save money on delivery. This is especially true during blitz pricing, when delivery fees can surge to double their normal cost.

Since the Savor card is covering the cost of your membership, you can add all the money you save right back to your food budget. Let’s say you order delivery once a week (four times a month) at the average fee.

4 take out orders x $4.99 = $19.96/month

$19.96/month x 12 months = $239.52/year in savings

It’s clear that delivery addicts have a lot to gain from the new benefit.
