American Express cardholders with eligible prime loans will soon be able to pay mortgage costs with their plastic.

The credit card and travel services firm announced on May 23, 2007, that American Home Mortgage Corp. will become the first lender to offer the Express Rewards Mortgage program on eligible prime loans.

American Express Card cardholders with a qualifying new purchase or refinance loans with American Home Mortgage Corp. will need to pay the lender a one-time fee of $395 for enrollment at closing time.

Meanwhile, couples that are purchasing a house may want to consider The Nest Credit Card from American Express, which rewards cardholders for decorating their new homes.
