With recent changes to the Marriott Rewards loyalty program, including an updated free night award chart, you may be wondering: What’s the best way to earn a large sum of Marriott bonus points in a short period of time? One option is the Marriott Rewards Premier Plus Credit Card, which currently offers 75,000 bonus points when you spend $3,000 in the first three months of card membership. Additionally, cardholders earn 6 points per dollar on Marriott purchases and 2 points per dollar on everything else.
Marriott Rewards Premier Plus card details
Along with a generous sign-up bonus and rewards rate, the Marriott Rewards Premier Plus card offers a variety of perks, including a free anniversary night at eligible hotels, no foreign transaction fees and trip delay reimbursement.

Why use it?
If you frequently stay at Marriott hotels and are interested in earning a large influx of rewards, the Marriott Rewards Premier Plus card is a great option. Along with a 75,000-point sign-up bonus, cardholders earn one free night at eligible hotels each year.
|Estimated Yearly Rewards Value ($15,900 spend)
Like many hotel rewards cards, the Marriott Rewards Premier Plus comes with a substantial annual fee. However, for frequent travelers, the card’s perks and rewards easily justify the cost. For example, the free annual night alone – worth up to $200 by our estimates – more than cancels out the fee.
Recent changes to the Marriott Rewards Premier Plus card
Since the Premier Plus card just launched in May 2018, there currently is not a lot of bonus history to reference. So far, the card has offered 100,000- and 75,000-point bonuses after reaching the required spend threshold.
Marriott Rewards Premier Plus bonus history
|Change date||Sign-up bonus|
|July 16, 2018||75,000 points if you spend $3,000 in the first 3 months|
|May 3, 2018||100,000 points if you spend $5,000 in the first 3 months|
Although the current sign-up bonus is 25,000 points lower than the previous bonus, at 75,000 points, it is still a generous offer. Additionally, cardholders are required to spend $2,000 less to receive the bonus than what was required for the 100,000-point bonus.
Who is eligible for the sign-up bonus?
You will not be eligible for the 75,000-point bonus if you currently have a Marriott Rewards Premier Plus or Marriott Rewards Premier card, or if you have received a new card member bonus for either card in the past 24 months.
However, if you are an existing Marriott Rewards Premier cardholder who would like to upgrade to the Marriott Rewards Premier Plus card, you may be eligible for an upgrade bonus. To see if you qualify, call the phone number on the back of your card.
More restrictions to come
We should note that more welcome bonus restrictions are going to effect on Aug. 26, 2018. As of that date, you will not be eligible for the Premier Plus sign-up bonus if any of the following apply to you:

Or have acquired any of the following cards in the past 90 days:
Should you apply now?
With its generous, 75,000-point bonus, now is a good time to apply for the Marriott Premier Plus card. While it is likely that the card will offer another 100,000-point bonus at some point in the future, the card’s limited history doesn’t help us determine when the bonus will be available again.
Also, keep in mind that several program changes went into effect when the Marriot Rewards, Starwood Preferred Guest and Ritz-Carlton loyalty programs unified on Aug. 18, 2018. For more details on the changes, click here.
