The holidays can be an expensive time — but all that shopping can be an opportunity to rack up credit card rewards points, miles and cash back. So how will cardholders put their rewards to work after the holidays this year?
According to Capital One‘s November 2012 Rewards Barometer Survey, which surveyed about 1,000 rewards cardholders, about a fourth will cash in their rewards for spring or summer travel. Roughly equal numbers will hold their rewards in reserve for future purchases and use cash-back rewards to soften the blow of post-holiday credit card statements. Meanwhile, nearly one in five plan to treat themselves to gift cards.
