Every Capital One rewards card has its own unique rewards rate and earning scheme, but there are a few strategies to help you earn more. To make the most of your Capital One rewards card, here a few tips for racking up miles and getting one step closer to your next vacation.
Sign up for Capital One rewards cards to earn intro bonuses
All Capital One rewards cards offer competitive sign-up bonuses. No matter which card works best for your spending habits, the intro bonus can make a significant dent in the price of your next trip.
|Sign-up bonus||Estimated value|
|Capital One® Venture® Rewards Credit Card||50,000 miles if you spend $3,000 in first 3 months||$500|
|Capital One® VentureOne® Rewards Credit Card||20,000 miles if you spend $1,000 in first 3 months||$200|
|Capital One® Spark Miles® for Business||$2,000|
|Capital One® Spark® Miles Select for Business||20,000 miles if you spend $3,000 in first 3 months||$200|
Unfortunately, all of these sign-up bonuses are only available to new cardholders. Capital One also limits the number of cards you can have open with them. So if you already have five open credit cards with the bank, you can’t apply for a new one.
The Venture card has been known to offer limited time sign-up bonuses, so keep your eye out for a good deal before applying.
Why should you get this card?
One of our most popular travel rewards cards, the Venture card comes with a high rewards rate and valuable perks for frequent travelers.

Keep an eye out for referral bonus offers
There is no set program in place for receiving bonus points for referring a friend for a Capital One rewards card. However, targeted referral offers have been sent out to Venture cardholders in the past. Keep a close eye on your inbox to take advantage of any bonus point offers.
Book hotel stays through hotels.com/venture
Both the Venture and VentureOne offer 10 miles per dollar on hotels booked and paid for on Hotels.com through the Capital One portal (hotels.com/venture). This is one of the best rewards rates you can get on travel purchases. With pricier hotel stays, it can earn you quite a few miles to apply toward the flight to get you to your destination.
Hotels.com has thousands of booking options, so it shouldn’t be difficult to find a great deal wherever you are traveling.
Use your Capital One rewards card for most of your purchases
All four Capital One rewards cards offer great flat rewards rates for general purchases – up to 2 miles per dollar on every purchase, every day. While many rewards cards require you to weigh your spending toward bonus categories to get a similar overall rate, Capital One rewards you for every purchase you make.
To earn great rewards on spending you are already doing, make any big charges (like mortgage or utilities payments) on your Venture or Spark Miles cards. You’ll earn miles faster without increasing your monthly spend. Just be sure to pay off your balance each month to avoid accruing interest.
The generous rewards rates on general purchases on both the Venture and Spark Miles cards make earning Capital One rewards easy. Take advantage of bonus categories, and keep a close eye out for limited time offers to maximize your rewards earning potential.
