Discover updates some of its top credit cards


Discover has updated the names, appearances, and rewards programs for some of its popular credit cards.

Discover recently altered the names, designs and rewards for some of its most popular credit cards.  As a result, consumers that are looking for the Discover credit cards they know and love may find that their favorite credit card has a new name and perhaps a fresh look, as well as an updated rewards program.

Compare Reward Credit CardsWhat had been the Discover Platinum Card has been renamed the Discover More Card.  The Discover More Card offers a 5 percent Cashback Bonus on “Get More” purchases in popular categories that change four times annually, including gas, travel, home, apparel, restaurants and more.

Discover More Card users also will earn up to 1 percent cash back on all other purchases automatically after their total annual purchases on the credit card top $3,000, with an unlimited number of total cash rewards available.

Meanwhile, the former Discover Gas Card has been renamed the Discover Open Road Card.  The Discover Open Road Card offers a full 5 percent Cashback Bonus on the cardholder’s first $1,200 in yearly gas and auto maintenance purchases.

Discover Open Road users also will earn up to 1 percent unlimited cash back on all other purchases after spending over $3,000 annually on credit card purchases.

Separately, the Discover Miles Card has become known as the Miles by Discover Card, and now offers travel with no restrictions.  As a result, consumers are able to book travel themselves through any airline, travel agent or Internet travel site without any blackout dates or advanced bookings.

The Miles by Discover Card credit card also lets user earn Double Miles for travel and restaurant purchases up to $3,000 a year, plus one Mile for every dollar spent on all other purchases.
