If you want to transfer your Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Korean Air SkyPass, you have until Aug. 24, 2018 to do so.
Chase has announced that – starting Aug. 25, 2018 – they will no longer offer Korean Air SkyPass as an Ultimate Rewards points transfer partner. In the meantime, Ultimate Rewards members can continue to transfer their points to Korean Air through Aug. 24.
Chase did not give a specific reason for this change; however, a representative stated that it was a “mutual decision.”
Ultimate Rewards travel partners
The removal of Korean Air may be disappointing to those who frequently travel to Asia – especially since each Ultimate Rewards point is worth 1.4 cents when transferred to Korean Air SkyPass. But keep in mind that Chase will continue to offer eight other airline partners – many of which offer an even higher point redemption value than Korean Air.
Airline redemption options
|Redemption option||Point value|
|British Airways||2.29 cents|
|Singapore Airlines||2.17 cents|
|Iberia Plus||1.7 cents|
|Southwest Airlines||1.57 cents|
|United Airlines||1.52 cents|
|Korean Air||1.4 cents|
|Air France||1 cent|
|Aer Lingus||1 cent|
|Virgin Atlantic||0.8 cent|
Earn Korean Air SkyPass milesAlthough you won’t be able to transfer Ultimate Rewards points to Korean Air after Aug. 24, there will still be opportunities to earn Korean Air SkyPass miles. Korean Air and U.S. Bank offer five cobranded credit cards, each of which offers rewards on every purchase. The U.S. Bank Korean Air SKYPASS Visa Signature card, for example, offers a 15,000-mile sign-up bonus, a 2,000-mile annual bonus, two points per dollar on Korean Air ticket purchases and one point per dollar on everything else. More changes to the Ultimate Rewards program
The Korean Air removal is not the only recent change to the Ultimate Rewards program. On Aug. 13, 2018, Chase announced that the Ultimate Rewards travel portal would now be powered by Expedia. According to Chase, the partnership will provide an enhanced booking experience, including:
- Access to Expedia’s network of flights, hotels, things to do and daily deals
- Seasonal discounts and special offers for thousands of hotels and activities
- More flight search options and price transparency
While the new Ultimate Rewards travel experience is currently only available to Chase Freedom and Chase Freedom Unlimited cardholders, it is expected to roll out to Sapphire and Ink cardholders in the coming months.

More changes are expected for the Ultimate Rewards in the next few weeks, so stay tuned!
