Chase has launched the Apple Ultimate Rewards Store – giving Sapphire®, Freedom® and Ink® cardholders another option to redeem their Ultimate Rewards points. Now, in addition to redeeming points for travel, gift cards, cash back, Amazon purchases and experiences, cardholders can use their points to cover all or a portion of Apple products purchased through the Ultimate Rewards portal.

Managing director of Ultimate Rewards and loyalty solutions, Lisa Walker, explains, “We know our customers crave flexibility and choice with their rewards, so we are thrilled to provide another way to redeem points for things our card members love, including Apple’s newest products.”

Along with choosing from Macs, iPads, iPhones, Apple TVs and more, cardholders will receive free seven-day shipping in the U.S. as well as 14-day returns on defective, damaged in transit and incorrect items.

25-percent bonus on your points

For a limited time, cardholders will get a 25-percent bonus when they redeem their points for Apple products – making each point worth 1 cent. For example, 100 points will be worth $1 when redeemed through the Apple Ultimate Rewards store.

 Apple Shop

While Chase has not yet specified when the limited-time transfer rate is scheduled to end, according to a representative, they plan to make it available at least through the end of 2018.

A good value?

The launch of the Apple Ultimate Rewards store provides a great opportunity to shop for Apple products and new releases ahead of the holiday shopping season. However, even with the 25-percent redemption bonus, you stand to squeeze more value from your points if you redeem them for travel through the Ultimate Rewards travel portal – or better yet, if you transfer them to an airline partner.

Take the Sapphire Preferred card for example, which offers a 60,000-point sign-up bonus when you spend $4,000 in the first three months of card membership. If you redeem those 60,000 points for Apple products, they will be worth $600. That’s more than enough to cover an Apple Watch Nike + Series 4 or an iPad mini 4 (which both start at 39,900 points or $399).

On the other hand, if you redeem the sign-up bonus for travel through the Ultimate Rewards travel portal, those same 60,000 points will be worth $750.
