Capital One offers a wide range of rewards cards, including cards for business and personal use. Whether you are looking for a card with no annual fee or one with more premium rewards, Capital One has a product available.
While Capital One also offers several cash back rewards cards, you can only earn, redeem and transfer miles on four cards. Here’s a quick breakdown of your options:
Rewards cards with no annual fee
Among its rewards card offerings, Capital One includes two options with no annual fee. If you are eager to start earning Capital One miles but not ready to spend $95 a year, the VentureOne and Spark Miles Select are a good place to start. With the VentureOne card, your general rewards rate is a bit lower – at just 1.25 miles per dollar – compared to the Venture Rewards.
Business owners can also get great rewards with no annual fee using the Spark Miles Select. This card has a great flat rewards rate that makes it easy to earn rewards on all your business purchases. The biggest drawback with choosing the Spark Miles Select over the Spark Miles card is the much lower sign-up bonus. With a value of 1 cent per mile, the Spark Miles Select intro offer is only worth $200, while the Spark Miles offer is worth $500.
Premium Capital One rewards cards
If you are willing to spend a bit more on an annual fee, Capital One also offers two cards with more premium rewards.
The Venture card is one of our most popular travel cards, with a straightforward rewards earning scheme and generous sign-up bonus. Cardholders who spend $20,000 in the first 12 months earn 100,000 bonus miles (worth up to $1,000 in travel) or after spending $3,000 in the first three months still earn 50,000 bonus miles – worth up to $500 in travel. You’ll also earn 2 miles per dollar on every purchase you make. This makes the Venture card one of the most rewarding options for frequent travelers.

How many Capital One cards can you have?
Like many issuers, Capital One limits the number of credit cards you can have open at one time. Their policy is pretty generous though, allowing up to five open credit card accounts. When you apply for a new Capital One credit card, just be sure your other Capital One accounts are in good standing.
Capital One also limits new applications to two per month. If you’ve submitted applications for a Capital One credit card twice in the last 30 days (whether or not you were approved), you’ll need to wait before applying again.
How to apply for a Capital One card
All four Capital One miles cards require applicants with a good to excellent credit score (above 670). Before you apply for a new Capital One rewards card, check out your credit history to make sure it is where you need it to be. You can request one credit report every 12 months from each of the three major credit bureaus through AnnualCreditReport.com.
If you are still worried about being approved and don’t want to risk a hard inquiry on your credit, you can use tools such as CardMatch™ to see if you pre-qualify with no impact to your credit score.
Which Capital One miles card should you apply for?
Whether you are looking for a card for business or personal use, you are probably better off applying for a card with an annual fee. Both the Venture card and Spark Miles for Business offer great rewards that offset the cost, even with a lower monthly spend.
