Air France-KLM and Bank of America have partnered to launch the airline’s first and only cobranded credit card available in North America: the Air France KLM World Elite Mastercard®.
Designed with Air France-KLM loyalists in mind, the card offers a 3-mile bonus on purchases made directly with Air France, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and SkyTeam member airlines, plus 1.5 miles per dollar on all other purchases. Additionally, cardholders earn 25,000 bonus miles when they spend $1,000 in the first 90 days.
Stephane Ormand, vice president and general manager USA at Air France-KLM, explains that the card “gives our loyal customers the unique ability to get more benefits when they fly to over 1,000 destinations within the SkyTeam network.”
Additional card perks include:
- Annual bonus – Get 5,000 miles each year on your account anniversary when you spend $50 or more within the anniversary year.
- 60 XP bonus – Cardholder receive 60 experience points – the currency for Air France-KLM’s Flying Blue Loyalty program – upon card approval.
- 20 XP annual bonus – Receive 20 experience points each year on your account anniversary with the chance to earn an extra 40 XP after spending $15,000 within the anniversary year – for a total of 60 XP.
- No foreign transaction fees – You will not pay additional fees for purchases made outside of the U.S.

While the Air France card offers a generous sign-up bonus, annual bonus and rewards rate, we estimate that each mile is only worth approximately 1 cent. However, the average consumer who spends $15,900 annually on food, gas, clothing and general purchases can still squeeze approximately $400 in rewards value from the card in the first year alone.

That said, if you frequently fly Delta Airlines, you may be better off applying for a Delta-branded credit card that offers a higher yearly rewards value and lower annual fee, such as the Blue Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express or the Gold Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express.
