Student Credit Cards Interview with WBZ Radio Boston
CreditCards.com Senior Industry Analyst Matt Schulz spoke on Thursday, August 27, 2015 with Mary Blake of WBZ Radio Boston about the August 2015 Student Credit Cards survey. The interview and transcript are below.
Mary Blake: As another college semester begins there is a new study out on campus credit cards. Matt Schulz, Senior Industry Analyst at CreditCards.com, says there is some encouraging news to report this fall.
Matt Schulz: What we found surprised us because student credit cards for a long time have had a bad rap of having high interest rates, not a lot of rewards. But things have really changed for the better and today’s student cards have pretty good rates, decent rewards, and even come with some tools to help students handle their credit.
Blake: CreditCards.com is a credit card comparison website. Schulz saying nine out of the 11 campus cards scrutinized offered rewards. The most common – cash back on groceries, gas, and restaurants. His overall advice? Shop around.
