Gas Card Rewards Interview with KTAR Radio Phoenix

CreditCards.com Senior Industry Analyst Matt Schulz spoke on Wednesday, March 18, 2015, with KTAR Radio host Jeremy Foster. The topic: a CreditCards.com survey on gas card rewards that showed that the rewards offered by gas station branded credit cards may not be worth it. The interview and transcript are below.

Jeremy Foster: If you’re considering signing up for a gas station branded credit card, you may want to reconsider. Matt Schulz with CreditCards.com tells KTAR the typical gas cards 10% discount per gallon, which is a decent return.

Matt Schulz: With prices the way they are now that’s about 4% back, but when you add it up if the average person spends about $150 on gas a month, that’s only about $6 a month.

Foster: According to Schulz, the average interest rate on gas cards run about 24%.
