Coupons & Credit Cards Interview with Bloomberg Radio

CreditCards.com Senior Industry Analyst Matt Schulz spoke on Saturday, November 7, 2015 with Denise Pellegrini of Bloomberg Radio about the November 2015 Coupons & Credit Cards survey. The interview and transcript are below.

Denise Pellegrini: You may be leaving money on the table if you haven’t looked into the deals available through the plastic in your wallet. Matt Schulz is the Senior Industry Analyst at CreditCards.com.

Matt Schulz: Credit cards can be a good source for coupons that people may not know they have. Issuers offer deals where you can opt-in on their website. Then, just go make the purchase and the coupon will apply automatically.

Pellegrini: Schulz says American Express, Bank of America, and Discover are among the credit card companies that have the programs. There’s no need to clip and carry coupons or display a bar code on your phone. But a CreditCards.com survey found two thirds of credit card users still seek out discounts the old fashioned way.

Schulz: The most frequent type of coupon that they use is paper, whether it’s from newspapers, or mailings, or other venues.

Pellegrini: Schulz says it’s just an indication we’re creatures of habit.
