Visa again claims title of world's leading credit card

For the ninth consecutive year, Visa claimed the title of "World's Leading Credit Card" at the World Travel Awards.  The 13th annual World Travel Awards ceremony, held Sept. 20, 2006, acknowledge achievements in all areas of the travel and tourism industry.

Visa's top credit card prize was awarded based on a global poll of travel agencies and front line travel agents.  The criteria used to evaluate companies included scope of distribution, convenience, and overall best services.

Visa International's executive vice president, global marketing partnerships and sponsorships, Tom Shepard, noted in a Sept. 28, 2006, statement that, "Visa continues to grow with the travel industry, working with merchants by providing merchants with access to millions of Visa cardholders and providing cardholders with unsurpassed acceptance worldwide."

The World Travel Awards were held at Beaches Turks & Caicos Resort and Spa, Providenciales.
