More than 60 percent of shopping trips in the U.S. are made for small or immediate needs, according to a study from The Nielsen Company.
Nielsen's data shows that fewer than one in five shopping trips are for so-called "large basket trips" -- such as a weekly grocery trip or a larger "stock-up" trip, which can range from around $100 to $250 or even higher.
